Wedding Photography new products

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

We are very busy in the office and very excited about our ten year anniversary. The website is being updated soon by Richard at Brightonweb and we have had some help from Leif at Kendall Copywriting. I now have a rough idea how google works and what meta data is, though don’t test me on it!vintageshoes

Perhaps the most revolutionary change is our switch to digital photography for weddings. Much as I love working on film, our new Canon 5D mkIIs are everything we need in a camera and we have really seen their magic in our last few winter weddings. We can now be even more flexible on what we can offer clients and the products we can offer. Queensberry are still our main albums and the duo pages with photofronts have been most popular but we have always been looking for a more cost effective album that looks robust and stylish. There are a few coffee table book companies around but I have always found the printing or binding to be poor, especially when sat next to a Queensberry album. At last though, we have sourced a great 12 inch square photo book that sits flat, has a hard backed photo cover and the pages are made up of photographic paper. The first wedding sample should be here next week and it will also showcase our other big new service which is Vintage Wedding Photography. For this option, the images are printed with a slight warm tone on the black & white and a retro effect on the colour. The results are gorgeous and worth all the hard work we have been putting in over the winter. Well done Amy on getting this gorgeous shot of Maddie’s shoes in the snow, it is going to feature in the site redesign too :) www.devlinphotos.co.uk

Claire & Lee’s Queensberry wedding album at Ravenswood

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Once again the Queensberry duo album has proved most popular this year. 82700010They are so much fun to design and it has few limitations. We have just finished the first design of Claire and Lee’s album from their wedding at Ravenswood in Sussex early this summer. It is lovely looking at the blue sky and sunshine while the weather outside is miserable.

Joanne & Mark’s Queensberry Album

Friday, November 6th, 2009

We have just finished working on Joanne & Mark’s Seaside themed Queensberry Duo album.13990009 Their wedding at the Pub Du Vin in Brighton was lively and fun which is reflected in the images in the album. The editor at Wedding Magazine has requested a CD of the images so they are thinking of doing a spread in their real weddings section. I think the album is rather funky!

New Queensberry Album

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Yesterday we had a company outing to London to attend a seminar by Johannes Van Kan I am not normally one for getting involved in this kind of thing as the last one I went to started with the speaker asking what kind of car everyone drove. (mostly BMWs) They then went on to explain up-selling techniques to squeeze extra money from clients and upgrade that all important flash car. However I have seen Johannes’s work through Queensberry and love his images and philosophy.

2010 will be my ten year anniversary shooting weddings and I want to revamp the business to reflect how I work now and to stand out from the growing crowd of other photographers around. So I was seeking some inspiration yesterday and was not disappointed. He is an intelligent but kooky photographer who has great passion and energy. He is not afraid to put his heart and soul into his work and clearly packs some magic in his camera bag on a wedding day. I made furtive notes throughout the day, not exactly of what he said, but of the ideas that were germinating in my head. I now need to sit down and work out how to translate those and progress but am very excited about the coming year and about not being afraid to make some changes and be me. It was the first time I have met another photographer who gives clients a full set of prints and then the freedom to choose a Queensberry album if they can afford it. He then puts a lot of creativity into the design but like me, he doesn’t package everything. We also seem to have a similar taste in music and that is mostly cover versions. From some of the questions that were being asked, we got the impression that some of the other photographers there still wanted him to tell them how to up-sell or brag about how they do it but I came away feeling that I had met a kindred spirit. I didn’t speak to him or shake his hand but wish that I had said thank you. As for cars, we drive Skodas because Clare’s Dad runs the dealership and we got a great discount! 726000020

This is our latest Queensberry Duo album that Annabel & Martin have kindly agreed to let us use as a studio sample. I am very much hoping that it arrives in time for the wedding fair at Buxted Park next weekend as it should be beautiful.

Queensberry Albums

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Well done to everyone who got their approved pictures back in time for the Queensberry deadline to get an album before Christmas. We have been incredibly busy designing the albums and ordering prints with a record number of albums in production. The new Duo design has been especially popular and we are looking forward to seeing some beautiful albums arrive over the next few weeks. We now have a new 7×5 parent album in stock which is only £150 and sweet little handbag book at £60 that is also being ordered as a present for bridesmaids. These can still be ordered in time for Christmas as can prints or canvas prints.

We have also designed a new 12 x12″ sample album with images printed to the edge of the page and no overlays. It features Leanne & Simon’s wedding so the cover is bright pink with their names embossed on it. It will look similar to digital books but have high quality images and be relatively cost effective.

If you are still intending to order an album, it is too late to guarantee getting it this year but Queensberry are not increasing their prices in the New Year.
