Civil Partnership Brighton / Matt & Leon Stanmer House

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Leon and Matt chose to get married on the anniversary of when they met and they certainly made it a memorable day for all of those involved. Clare started the wedding photography at their house where Matt was getting ready with four bridesmaids and three flowergirls, while I went to MyHotel in Brighton to cover Leon with four more bridesmaids, another flowergirl and the ring bearer, Dylan. They all squeezed into a stretch Hummer for the short journey out to Stanmer House for the candlelit ceremony, conducted by the lovely Mr Love. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have seen, thanks to some gorgeous singing and the emotional vows that Matt and Leon made. New girl Amy even shed a little tear, so she will need to toughen up! After photos and drinks in the grounds, it was time for everyone to leave Stanmer for the party at MyHotel and the boys know how to make an exit. They had arranged for a helicopter to land on the lawn and whisk them away. There was a dramatic colour theme of black and red which looked fantastic on all those bridesmaids and we had a lot of fun doing the wedding photography. We made use of the penthouse suite for some portraits which had to be worked around the 300 year old carousel horse that is in the middle of the room.

The suits and accessories were from classic Brighton tailor Hugo Morris. The choccywoccydoodah cake was about four foot high and completely over the top. It was quite a manic Monday but really great fun.

Sussex Wedding / Claire & Lee’s Wedding at the Ravenswood

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

It was a glorious day when we arrived at the Ravenswood in Sussex for Claire and Lee’s wedding. We started with some shots of the house against a perfect blue sky and then met the groom with all of his Ushers and the Best Man. They were only slightly nervous and happy to pose for some pre-wedding photos. It was busy in Claire’s room with three bridesmaids and the Mums but we managed to get some great images of Claire getting into her fairytale dress which was from Chloe Mai in Steyning. I wanted to take the Bride and Groom down to some lovely old ruins in the grounds for their portraits, which turned out to be quite hard to locate. But Claire was a great sport even though we had to navigate some muddy woods. It turned out to be a stunning location with perfect light and the pictures are very beautiful. Their humorous cake, featuring a groom kneeling at a bride’s feet while she stood with hands on hips, was made by Choccywoccydoodah in Brighton.

Sussex Wedding / Lisa & Peter’s Wedding at Buxted Park

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Lisa and Peter were the second couple that I met who had changed their plans for a tropical beach wedding and opted for the winter chic surroundings of Buxted Park in Sussex. Clare started coverage at the couple’s house nearby where the groom was getting ready with the groomsmen before they drove to the hotel in a Land Rover decorated with ribbons. During our pre wedding meeting, it became clear that some outside shots were important to Lisa despite the late ceremony so she made sure that she and the flowergirls were all ready in plenty of time to go out for some posed shots. We had to lock the groom in the bar to make sure that he didn’t catch sight of the bride but I think he was not complaining. The late afternoon light was gorgeous and we got some beautiful shots of Lisa making use of the steps to show off the train on her dress.

The theme was black and white so Lisa added a little black shrug to complete her outfit and the Orangery looked very dramatic, especially as it was dark outside. For some of the wedding photography, we set up some lights in the Coat of Arms room so we could take some portraits using the columns which looked very classic and elegant. Our coverage finished with some shots of Peter and Lisa cutting their white chocolate cake from Choccywoccydoodah in Brighton.
