Rock N Roll Bride without a Bride!!!

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

We are literally popping open the bubbly this afternoon in the office. We have been LOVING the uber fabulous Rock n Roll Bride who was named as the most influential person in the wedding industry. So after recently getting in touch, we have started an association with her very inspirational blog and today Matt & Leon’s dramatic Brighton Civil Partnership is featured on there. It looks fantastic and has fulfilled my ambition for this year, which was to get on there. The photographers and images that appear on her site are among the best in the world and now little old Devlin Photos has got its foot in the door. Feel like I have won an Oscar! Have a look and leave your comments at www.rocknrollbride.com

Commercial Photography / Brighton Boutique Hotel

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

The very lovely Matt & Andy from The Twenty One in Brighton’s Kemptown got in touch recently to have their gorgeous Boutique Hotel photographed. They needed some new images to refresh their website but have been so booked up, it has taken over a year to find a day when enough rooms were empty. The boys are very relaxed and welcoming which obviously makes them great hosts as they have a lot of loyal clients. For me, it is great to shoot some interior photography after the challenges of wedding and portrait photography. If you need to find some chic rooms for guests in Brighton, have a look at their site The Twenty One.

Civil Partnership Brighton / Matt & Leon Stanmer House

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Leon and Matt chose to get married on the anniversary of when they met and they certainly made it a memorable day for all of those involved. Clare started the wedding photography at their house where Matt was getting ready with four bridesmaids and three flowergirls, while I went to MyHotel in Brighton to cover Leon with four more bridesmaids, another flowergirl and the ring bearer, Dylan. They all squeezed into a stretch Hummer for the short journey out to Stanmer House for the candlelit ceremony, conducted by the lovely Mr Love. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have seen, thanks to some gorgeous singing and the emotional vows that Matt and Leon made. New girl Amy even shed a little tear, so she will need to toughen up! After photos and drinks in the grounds, it was time for everyone to leave Stanmer for the party at MyHotel and the boys know how to make an exit. They had arranged for a helicopter to land on the lawn and whisk them away. There was a dramatic colour theme of black and red which looked fantastic on all those bridesmaids and we had a lot of fun doing the wedding photography. We made use of the penthouse suite for some portraits which had to be worked around the 300 year old carousel horse that is in the middle of the room.

The suits and accessories were from classic Brighton tailor Hugo Morris. The choccywoccydoodah cake was about four foot high and completely over the top. It was quite a manic Monday but really great fun.

Brighton photographer / The Photo Book

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

As well as the high end but very beautiful, Queensberry albums that we offer, this year for both wedding and portrait photography, we have introduced the Photo Book. This is a 12 x 12 inch hardback book produced with archival lustre finish photographic paper pages that give brilliant colours and super sharp quality. It has a full wrap-around laminate cover which can be printed with an image of your choice on a range of colours. The book also offers complete lay-flat binding, showing off double-pages to best results. They can hold up to 200 images which is great for a wedding and we do a smaller version that has been popular for family portraits. It has taken us quite a long time to source a product that was affordable but still looks exceptional. The prices range from £250-£500.

Vintage Wedding / Charlotte & Tristan’s Wedding at Combe Bank School

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

On Saturday, Amy and I photographed a gorgeous Vintage inspired wedding at the elegant Combe Bank School near Seven Oaks in Kent. We started coverage by photographing Charlotte’s stunning vintage inspired gown by Joanne Fleming. It had a fabulous 1930s Hollywood Starlet look, finished with very pretty antique lace. Charlotte and Tristan have more than a slight thing for Minis and have been restoring an old one with the aim to using it for the wedding. Sadly, it wasn’t ready on time but a quick plea on the internet and a very kind lady volunteered to drive Charlotte and her Dad in hers.

After a quick but surprisingly emotional civil ceremony with just a few friends and close family, we had time to play around on the Grand staircase with Charlotte for some emotive movement shots. They then had a beautiful marriage blessing in the chapel with all of their guests. We discovered that these two have been sweethearts since they were 14 and have been through quite a lot together (cue the tears from Amy!) I was hoping for a sunset and right as the speeches finished, the sun was indeed creating magic. The very lovely Charlotte and Tristan were kind enough to skip their starters for some quick shots in an amazing light. I am hoping that one of these shots will make it onto their fireplace as a daily reminder of a very special and romantic day. I really do love this job!

Portrait Photography / Children’s portraits, Brighton

Monday, March 1st, 2010

At long last the sun is trying to shine and little flowers are pushing through to cheer us all up. So we took the little blond people to Preston Park in Brighton for some fresh air and to wear the puppy out. I took the opportunity to take some children’s portraits as Granny has been hinting that she wants canvas prints for Mother’s Day, no pressure then!
