As a female photographer based in Brighton, Sussex, I work with a small team who specialise in creative wedding, portrait and commercial photography. Having spent over ten years working freelance, shooting features and celebrities for magazines and the music industry, I have a great deal of experience at capturing people and events.

After studying Art and Design at Brighton University, I moved to London and attended the film and photography school, Pimlico Arts & Media. At the same time I gained experience as an assistant to a group of five music industry photographers including Lorenzo Agius and Paul Cox, based with the agency Repertoire. When college finished, I became a full time assistant with Paul and eventually a second photographer on shoots, including Van Morrison and Eric Clapton. With a strong portfolio I got an agent and spent over ten years working freelance for record companies and various magazines in the UK, Europe and the US. The list of artists that I worked with included Faithless, Simply Red, The Manic Street Preachers, Morecheeba, Natalie Imbruglia, and Busted.

When my agent got married in 2000, she found it impossible to find a stylish wedding photographer and when she asked me to capture the day for her, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Having just finished touring with Steps I felt I needed a new challenge and saw a gap in the market for natural, contemporary wedding photography. I also put my skills to good use taking portraits and images for business. The photographers that influence me include Annie Lebowitz as she always goes beyond the obvious, David Lachapell for his vibrancy and energy and Richard Avedon for the timeless elegance and wit of his images. 

It is scary to say but I have now been making a living as a photographer for twenty years. In that time the industry has advanced enormously but I am extremely glad to have trained by shooting on the very unforgiving transparancy film. It forced you to a high level of accuracy and respect for the medium that training on digital does not require. The excitment of modern technology affects my day to day working life and I am always learning. I am having a lot of fun with my digital SLR and use it for portraits and commercial work but am sticking to film for weddings.

Even after shooting hundreds of wedding days I still love it and feel excited about the ones that are yet to come.
